Parasites

A parasite is a plant or animal which lives on or in another plant or animal known as the host. The parasite obtains its food from the host. They often have complicated life cycles which may involve a different hosts. For example, tapeworms, such as taenia saginata live in man, whereas the eggs are eaten by grazing cattle and develop in the muscles of cattle. If under cooked infected beef is eaten, the adult tapeworm develops in man. Parasites may be destroyed by cooking or by commercial freezing.
